The Ottawa Legacy Expo 2026
Meet our May 2026 Vendors - Ottawa
With 35+ vendors the Legacy Expo - Ottawa had something to offer for everyone. People interested in learning about hospice care for pets (and humans), or how to talk about grief in the workplace were able to find out more during our May event. There were also vendors focusing on how creative and artistic outlets can help you in your own grief journey, as well as information to help those becoming caregivers. There truly was something for everyone.

Meet our 2026 Presenters
During the Legacy Expo - Ottawa there were four separate presentations being held in break-out rooms. These presentations gave attendees a more in depth view into the services offered by the Presenters. Whether it was learning about the proper language to use with children, or having a sound bath experience, these sessions offered a chance to dig a little deeper. Each presentation lasted 30 minutes.

In this interactive workshop, we will discuss how to approach the subjects of death and grief with honesty, clarity, and care. These can be difficult conversations and the goal is for the adult to feel more comfortable and equipped to have them.
Designed for parents, caregivers, educators and any other adults interested in learning how to listen, respond, and provide emotional support — without needing the 'perfect words'.
There will be a display of books for you to look at and a handout with the titles of books for different ages and situations.

Guided by Laurie Clark, bereavement companion and somatic grief practitioner, this session honors grief as a natural, embodied experience. Everything shared is an invitation. You are encouraged to listen inwardly, choose what feels supportive to share, and rest whenever needed.
You will be invited to explore grief through the wisdom of the body. This workshop offers simple, compassionate practices to support presence, regulation, and connection as you navigate loss at your own pace.

Last Aid in Canada: Increasing Community Participation in Palliative Care
By: Cheryl Spencer and Tara Landry - Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association
Talking about death can feel uncomfortable, yet most of us will one day care for someone who is seriously ill, dying, or grieving. What if we felt more confident, prepared, and supported in those moments? Last Aid is a public education program designed for everyone, not just health care professionals. Offered in more than 20 countries and now expanding across Canada, the course provides practical, accessible knowledge about palliative care, dying as a natural part of life, planning ahead, relieving suffering, and navigating grief. In this session, you will learn what Last Aid is, how it works, and why it is helping communities feel less afraid of end-of-life conversations. Participants consistently report feeling more confident talking about death and more comfortable supporting someone with serious illness or grief.
If you have ever wondered how to start the conversation, how to better support someone you care about, or how communities can become more compassionate around death and dying, this session will offer insight, reassurance, and practical information about the Last Aid program.
